Comfort Prostitute

Korean Professors http://scholarsinenglish.blogspot.com/

Comfort prostitute Nanumu retirement home resident Bae Chun-hee was sold by father but get coached by Chong Dae Hyup and gives false testimonies [to keep over ten times normal korean retirement benefit.]

Summary:

  • Korean lies about 200k abducted without written evidence
  • Former prostitutes are paid 10 times retirement to LIE, thus gives inconsistent testimonies. Even sometimes say truth like “sold by father twice” “tricked” or korean war things.
  • Solders paid about 1 week of wage
  • Many prostitute had huge bank account(with passbook evidence)
  • Japan(government) used private owners and specifically told them only use those that want to
  • 1944 USA war report say prostitute ate well and buy luxury items
  • 2013 discovery of diary by korean manager… marriage, request coming back from retirement, money transfer
  • Korean brother owned brothel dominate in SE asia
  • Korean broker/recruiter was used(some tricked)
  • It was normal for starving to sell kids, even in japan
  • No evidence of Japan abducting, no evidence of family member defending
  • Police/Governors in Korea were Koreans
  • Smart Koreans had Japanese names
  • Some rape always occurs
  • Some SE low level official abducted few in SE Asia, was individual crime and executed

To put things in proper perspective:

Some estimate Allies raped 2 million rapes in Germany, 1-2 million in Japan, and France after D-day. It is easy to believe since Center for Disease Control estimates over 1.3 million rapes per year in USA today.

Paid Comfort Prostitute charged about 1 weeks of wage for solder. Some made enough for a house in 2 month.. Back then starving parents sold kids even in Japan too. Korean recruiters(some tricked) and Korean brothers were dominant in SE Asia prostitution station ownership. Japan apologized many times because today’s sentiment considers paid prostitution tragic.

I have decided to PROPERLY translate 慰安婦 ianhu with explicit and proper meaningful words since world don’t understand Japanese suitableness for well Paid Comfort Prostitute. After WW2 American GI raped so much that Japan had to create Recreation_and_Amusement_Association. Similarly I would name it Comfort Prostitution Station for American GI.

Korean scholars on Paid Comfort Prostitute

Comfort Prostitute were mostly Japanese. Korean recruiters were used in Korea. In 2013 diary of Korean worker in SE Asia station owned by Korean was discovered.  Japanese/korean/taiwan solders had to pay about 1 week worth of wage. USA, Japan, Korea China etc. used a military prostitution and had atrocities, but due to War Guilt Information Program distorted propaganda, only bad things about Japan was taught. Like Chinese “50 cents army”, Korean VANK, USA(too big/smart to have a name?) etc. do today. Comfort Prostitute issue needs to be put in a fair perspective.  History is written by the winners and usa influenced to keep japan and korea easier to control using divide and conquer.

Even today, S Korean prostitutes are forced by debt and Korean traffickers.  “Korean Feminist Association alleged that from 514,000 to 1.2 million Korean women participate in the prostitution industry“ Even S Korea is in G7 and estimate is around 100,000 international Korean Prostitutes.  Imagine when conditions were WORSE than N Korea today.

https://real7777.wordpress.com/war/comfort-women/michael-yon/
2014 American journalist Michael Yon concluded koreans lied.

1) 2007 report for german/japan war crimes, USA spent $30m,7 years, and went through 8million pages, NO evidence.
2) Korean claims 200,000 abducted sex slave, Michael says there is NO evidence of Korean men fighting to prevent it.
China/S Korea started newly intensified campaign of Japan bashing with lies, hate, and distortion after Aoyama disclosed there are huge metanhydrate and potential for normal gas/oil around oceans of japan.   There are 500,000 chinese working for 50 cent army who do cyber espionage and oppression.  Korean VANK cyber japan bashing group are financed by korea and china. They try hard to push lies in effort to steal island from japan and asia. “congratulation fukushima” “japan sink(to bottom of ocean)” “wipe japan from face off earth with nuke”

Also south korean government use it as tool to distract internal problems. There’s also greedy people trying to sensationalize and make money. Japanese military ordered voluntary comfort stations. It was around 55% japanese, 25% korean, 15% taiwan. Back then, it was normal for starving poor to sell kids in Japan and asia Some were sold by parents, some were paid advance money, some had debt, etc. They became indenture prostitute(until debt is paid). Japan used mostly koreans as recruiters in korea. Some recruiters violated rules. Here’s video of newspaper clippings about tricks and abduction by korean brokers who sold girls to china (like they been doing for hundreds of years) during annexation.

In 1944 USA war report USA did not rescue Paid Comfort Prostitute instead they **captured** and women became POW. Paid Comfort Prostitute ate good and “were able to buy cloth, shoes, cigarettes, and cosmetics” luxury items. This implies that they had pride and wanted to look good. Things got deteriorated in SE asia toward end of ww2 and some criminal japanese solder tricked and abducted but these were still minority and probably only 1-2%. Some japanese military criminals were executed by japan. To put things in perspective though, after the surrender, USA occupying troops raped around 50,000 in Japan in just first month.

“…. is the village in Okinawa where GI’s raped every woman, girl, and child—the victims were too sick and starving to even try to run from their attackers. “

Japan had to creat Recreation and Amusement Association prostitution station trying to reduce rapes.

USA used Prostitutes_in_South_Korea_for_the_U.S._military prostitute station in South Korea.

Elite korean/taiwanese had japanese name and learned japanese. Most of police in korea were koreans too. I would say blacks in usa were more discriminated. Koreans were not treated that much worse than northern japanese, okinawan, hokkaido etc. In fact korean president park chung-hee was a lieutenant in Japan’s elite Kwantung Army.Korea’s first president Rhee Syngman recorded his nationality as Japanese. Park Chung-hee was born poor, but became officer in JAPANESE elite Kwantung army and became south korean leader 1961-1979. In 1965, he ask japan for help and japan provided over us$800 million in settlement and aid which was about twice south korean budget(today us$1 trillion). By his choice, he used it for modernized rather than compensate people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_on_Basic_Relations_between_Japan_and_the_Republic_of_Korea Also Anti-Chinese riots of 1931 by koreans who killed chinese in korea is one another proof that koreans weren’t treated that bad.

President Park Chung-hee(father of current Korean president) was born poor, but became officer in JAPANESE elite army and became South Korean leader 1961 until he was assassinated by korean in 1979. 1965 Park Chung-hee ask japan for help.  Japan gave S Korea $500 million to help and settle which are equivalent of us$50 billion from inflation.  “Miracle on the Han River” economic growth came from Japanese money and sacrifice of korean prostitutes earning foreign currency from USA troop.  These things were kept secret and evil connected Chaebol thieves got the credit and assets.  These prostitute were the true hero of korea, not chaebol.  S Korean government took foreign currency and did NOT pay these women hardly anything.
Japan further helped S korea in 1965,1983,1997,2006,2008 with worth hundred of billions in aid, loan, swap etc.
wiki quote:”Park Chung-hee, who ruled South Korea during the 1960s and 1970s, and the father of incumbent president Park Geun-hye, encouraged the sex trade in order to generate revenue, ” “Wianbu (위안부)” “North Korean nurses captured by South Korean and US soldiers. Captured North Korean women were sometimes raped and forced to work as sex slaves”
In 2014, korean war prostitute(양공주) and Paid Comfort Prostitute BOTH sued S KOREAN government since they found out 1965 settlement.
The Associated Press found that slavery still thrives in S korea.
S Korean government (controlled by chaebol to large extent) teaches hate and false history in order to divert Koreans from finding out the truth.  They should tax chaebol extra and give these women $20,000 per year.  Chaebol got arrogant instead of sharing when economy got better.  I think Korean Air nut case woman is typical though she only got in trouble because it was on board airplane in usa.  Koreans should confiscate chaebol assets and distribute to everyone. Koreans should use this to demand economic justice from chaebol who stole money earmarked for the people.

Koreans need to study their own history to put things in proper fair perspective.
Even after the war, Korea promoted prostitution trip to the Korea to earn foreign currency. Look at prostitution section of wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kisaeng Even today there are functionally indenture prostitutes in word, but exceptionally huge in korea. The cause is debt/drugs/pimp/third world/casting couch/ etc. There are like 50,000 korean visiting prostitutes in japan. 90% of prostitutes arrested in Los Angels were korean who often work in korean owned massage parlors with japanese name.

Korean’s war brothel diaries offer new details

SEOUL – The diaries of a Korean man who worked in wartime brothels for Japanese soldiers in Burma and Singapore during World War II have been found in South Korea.

Researchers believe the diaries, the first ever found that were written by someone who worked at a “comfort station,” are authentic and provide actual details of the brothels and the lives of “comfort women.”

They also show that the Imperial Japanese Army was involved in the management of the facilities, which the Japanese government acknowledged in a 1993 statement by then-Chief Cabinet Secretary Yohei Kono.

The Korean man worked as a clerk in the brothels. Born in 1905, he died in 1979 before the comfort women became a thorny issue between Japan and South Korea.

A South Korean museum obtained the diaries covering 1922 to 1957, with several years missing, from a secondhand bookstore.

Ahn Byung-jik, a professor emeritus at Seoul National University, examined the portion for 1943 and 1944 jointly with two Japanese researchers, Kyoto University professor Kazuo Hori and Kobe University professor Kan Kimura. Their joint research will be published in South Korea in the near future.

One passage describes how two prostitutes who had quit because of their marriages had been ordered to return by army logistics. He also said he submitted daily reports to the logistics command.

The man noted that the manager of one of the comfort stations was a Korean from Chungju in the central part of the peninsula.

He wrote that he had withdrawn ¥600 from a prostitute’s account and remitted it at a post office on her behalf, indicating that comfort women were paid.

In a glimpse of their daily lives, the man wrote that “comfort women went to see a movie screened by the railroad unit.”

The diaries are “highly credible,” Kimura said, noting there was little possibility of alterations because the man died before the comfort women issue became a source of contention.

His accounts conflict with assertions by some Japanese that comfort women were involved in a purely private business, and by some South Koreans that the women were completely enslaved.

A portion is missing for 1942, when many girls and women were believed to have been recruited. But what he wrote in later years describes events that are believed to have happened in 1942.

“On this day last year, I boarded a ship at Busan port and took the first step of my southbound journey,” the man wrote in the entry for July 10, 1943.

On April 6, 1944, he wrote, “When a comfort team left Busan two years ago, Mr. Tsumura, who came as head of the fourth comfort corps, was working in a fresh food association.”

The diaries “confirmed that the fourth comfort corps had existed,” Ahn said. “It has also become certain that the Japanese government had organized comfort teams and took women to the frontline.”

But Ahn is skeptical about the view that the Japanese military and police took women by force from the Korean Peninsula. “I do not think such a thing was possible,” Ahn said, noting that Korea at the time was “a well-ordered society, although it was a colony.”

The 1993 Kono statement said that the Imperial Japanese Army “was, directly or indirectly, involved in the establishment and management of the comfort stations and the transfer of comfort women.”

In the statement, the Japanese government also extended its “sincere apologies and remorse to all those . . . who suffered immeasurable pain and incurable physical and psychological wounds as comfort women.”

In 1995, Japan set up a fund to support former comfort women, called the Asian Women’s Fund, with financial support from the government.

Japan’s official position is that the comfort women issue has been resolved because South Korea gave up all individual claims under a 1965 pact on the normalization of relations between the two nations. Seoul does not consider the comfort women issue to be covered by the pact.

Amazing! Thank you for this. I just have two comment though. In times of war, rape occurs in masses! It happens everywhere in the world. It is wrong. But it happens. And second comment. Colonialization is colonialization, no matter who is doing it. No one culture wants to be “progressed” by another. The Japanese did great for the Koreans. The British did great for the Africans. But it still colonization and should never have happened. But, I am going to follow your blog from now on. It is good for my writing.

Hawaii was illegally overthrown and eventually became part of USA states. Or scotland, uighur, tibet.don
Under Soviet, I don’t think non-russian countries were considered colonies.
Anyway, japan gave democracy, modernization(more than japan itself),education, citizenship, fair oppitunity etc. so clearly it was part of japan, not colonies.

Also KOREAN GOVERNMENT voted to be annexed by Japan. It was very wise decision since Russia would have take them over and whole korea would been WORSE than North Korea today.

    The Comfort Women Issue

In wars, soldiers sometimes rape innocent women. To prevent this from happening, the Japanese military asked businessmen to recruit prostitutes and operate comfort stations (brothels). The Japanese military sent orders to comfort station operators not to recruit women against thier will. Japanese businessmen followed the order and only recruited willing women in Japan. But Korean businessmen recruited both willing prostitutes and unwilling women in Korea. This is why some of former Korean comfort women are still unhappy while we hear little or no complaint from former Japanese comfort women. If Korean comfort station owners had followed the Japanese military’s order, there wouldn’t have been any comfort women issue.

As a history student, I interviewed dozens of Koreans who were born and raised in the Korean Peninsula in the 1920’s and 1930’s including my grandparents about comfort women.

What they witnessed was Korean fathers and brothers selling their daughters and sisters, Korean comfort station owners deceiving Korean women. They never witnessed Japanese military coercing any Korean women.

The following are Korean newspaper reports from 1930’s & 1940’s. They confirm what I heard from my grandparents and their contemporaries.

    http://scholarsinenglish.blogspot.com/…/korean-newspaper-ar…

The following is a diary written by a Korean comfort station worker discovered in 2013 by Professor Ahn Byong Jik of Seoul National University. It details how Korean comfort station owners recruited Korean women in the Peninsula (sometimes on false pretenses) and how they operated comfort stations employing those women.

    http://book.daum.net/detail/book.do?bookid=KOR9788994228761

    http://archive.is/1jcC4

Professor Park Yuha of Sejong University says, “Former comfort women erased much of their memories, like their hatred of their own parents and Korean recruiters who sold them. Instead they were expected to serve only as a symbol of a victimized nation, a role foisted on them by nationalist activists to incite anti-Japanese feelings.”

    http://scholarsinenglish.blogspot.com/…/summary-of-professo…

Professor Chunghee Sarah Soh of San Francisco State University says, “Korean society must repudiate victimization, admit its complicity and accept that the system was not criminal.”

    http://scholarsinenglish.blogspot.com/…/the-comfort-women-b…

By the way, I don’t exonerate the Japanese military because its invasion into China and Southeast Asia did create the demand for comfort women. But the Korean narrative “The Japanese military showed up at the doors and abducted young Korean women” just didn’t happen. The Korean businessmen (comfort station owners) capitalized on the demand, recruited Korean women, operated comfort stations and made lots of money. Japan has apologized for its part. South Korea should admit its complicity and stop demanding Japan for more apologies.

Asahi Shimbun published a series of fabricated articles on comfort women in the 1980’s. Based on these articles, the anti-Japanese civic group Chong Dae Hyup (many of its members were North Korean spies) was formed by the South Korean communists in 1990. Then out of nowhere a woman named Kim Hak-sun came forward in 1991 and claimed she was abducted by Japanese military. There is clear evidence (recorded tapes) she was coached by Chong Dae Hyup to give false testimony. If Korean women were indeed abducted by the Japanese military, it is rather odd that not a single woman claimed anything for over 45 years after the end of World War II. Former South Korean President Roh Tae-woo said in a 1993 interview, “Asahi Shimbun created the comfort women issue out of nothing, provoked Korean nationalism and infuriated Korean people.”

It is ironic that 99% of Westerners fell for Chong Dae Hyup’s (North Korean) propaganda while South Korean scholars such as Professor Park Yuha of Sejong University, Professor Lee Yong-hoon of Seoul University, Professor Ahn Byong-jik of Seoul University, Professor Jun Bong-gwan of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Lee Dae-gun of Sungkyunkwan University, Professor Choi Ki-ho of Kaya University, Professor Oh Seon-hwa of Takushoku University and Professor Chunghee Sarah Soh of San Francisco State University agree that the Japanese military did not coerce Korean women. Only a small number of fanatics with loud voice (South Korean communists with close ties to North Korea) falsely claim 200,000 Korean women were coerced by the Japanese military. Westerners must realize that North Korean operatives are using the comfort women issue to drive a wedge into U.S.-Japan-South Korea security partnership.
